4 Ways to Always Keep Talking During a Date
“I can’t think of what to say next.” As a dating and attraction coach, I’ve heard this sentence a million times. Here are some ways to bail you out of this moment. Keep them in mind and you will always have something to say.
1. Observation – Notice people’s clothing, how they’re standing or moving, and how they’re responding to other people. Then say something about their body language or clothes. Such as:
“Are you aware that the way you’re standing indicates that you have a dominant personality type?”
2. Location – Make a remark about the place you’re at, then tell a tale about something that happened to you at or near that locale. Have you been there your whole life? Are you there for vacation? Is there an excellent restaurant close by? Is there a secret spot that you and your friends would hang out at in college?
3. Listen – Take in info as you listen to others speak. This can be great to use later in the interaction. Did someone mention a certain band? Travel? Hobbies? Food? Architecture? Keep your ears perked up!
Be sure to ask them to expand on this so that you can learn as much as possible about the woman you want to get to know better.
4. The Future – Are you vacationing sometime soon? Acquiring a new vocation? Getting a pet? Ask her thoughts on something about whatever it is that’s happening to you.
Example: “I’m looking for a good Thai food restaurant to go to around here. I had a girl from work offer to buy me lunch and I really wanted some Thai food. Do you all know any good places?”
Sure you might screw up. You might say something that isn’t exciting, or that doesn’t keep the group talking. That’s not important. What’s important is pushing yourself. If you push yourself you will get better at these situations and become a more natural conversationalist.
